Moultrie County Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational, Christian housing ministry serving all eligible persons living in all of the Village of Arthur and Moultrie County, Illinois. Our mission is to help build lives and build homes for those partner families in need of a modest, affordable house. During our ten year history, we have built 13 Habitat houses including four in Arthur, one in Bethany, four in Lovington and four in Sullivan.
Moultrie County Habitat for Humanity builds houses for Moultrie County families in need. Volunteer labor is used to build houses to keep building costs low for Habitat families. Partner families pay a down payment and a monthly payment on a 0% interest 25 year mortgage. They also invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity-- into building their own houses and the houses of others. As Habitat homeowners pay their mortgages, the money goes into a revolving fund that helps build houses for other families. Moultrie County Habitat tithes 10 percent of contributions to help build houses in Brazil.
